I was featured on Fave Crafts today.

I created this cute Mother’s Day Gift Planter out of a Paper Mache flower pot, some joint compound, acrylic paints, and fake flowers.

It’s a bright, cheery way to spruce up your mother’s home décor and remind her that summer is right around the corner.

I was featured on the Craft For Health blog. I talk about how connecting with other artists, via art blogs, helped me deal with my depression.

When I discovered art blogs it was as though a whole new world had opened up to me and I was hooked! I enjoyed the visual stimulation I got from the new project posts. I found inspiration in the personal struggles as well as the accomplishments of the artists. For some reason, connecting with other artists, albeit online, was healing.

I think I’ll always be a fan of art blogs. They fuel the imagination and reading them “gets me out of the house” and keeps me from being swallowed up by the isolation I sometimes feel living here in this small town.

Featured Cinco de Mayo Crafts

I was featured on The Dabbling Mum and Crafts Unleashed this week. I share a total of four tutorials on how to use red, green, and white tissue paper to make simple crafts that are sure to make your Cinco de Mayo festivities more “authentic” and fun!

Growing up in a town that loved to celebrate Cinco de Mayo was actually the best part about living in the projects. Every year our elementary school would host a fiesta complete with costumes, music, food, carnival games, and a circular parade on the playground. Then in sixth grade we got to re-enact the 1862 battle between Mexico and the French Army at the Battle of Puebla.
