As I was writing a post to an online mixed media group I belong to it hit me: I absolutely love creating! It doesn’t matter if anyone else likes what I create. It doesn’t matter if what I create ever sells—and I am sure some projects won’t. All that matters is that it feels so good to be creating again because there’s this amazing feeling of peace when I create and that peace is something I strongly need in my life right now.

Creating causes me to slow down and concentrate on one thing. Creating causes me to appreciate the here and now. Creating keeps the stress from life, the anxiety over having too much to do and so little time to do it in, the paternal worries, and even the depression at bay. Creating something with my hands even allows my mind to get a little creative as I daydream about the recipient opening up the gift that I’ve created and being pleasantly surprised.
I hope to one day develop a style people will recognize as my own. A style that incorporates mixed media and scrapbook techniques, painting, and photography. I’m not sure how it will all unfold but for right now I am simply enjoying the process.
Until next time,
